my i pad keeps switching off and then comes up saying I need to refresh how do I do that?

Press & hold the power on/off button on the top until the red slider appears, then dag the slider to turn it off completely. Then press and hold both the Power (On / Off) button and the Home button (which is located right below the screen) together for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears, then wait a bit, then check.

Turned it off completely waited and when I switched it on again only the apple logo appears

that appears to be working-I have new messages there I also use it for playing games and it is frustrating when it suddenly switches off and tells me that restore is needed
