I have an apple Mac Pro and an apple ipad. I just changed my password ***** went to 2 step verification. I was given a verification code, all went well and then an app password ***** my ipad. When I went to edit my mail account on my ipad saw that my password ***** been changed so I tried to get email but was told my password ***** incorrect. I went back in and went through the stages again putting in the 16 digit app password ***** my ipad. still cannot get into gmail on my ipad but am able to access my account on my apple mac. You're welcome. Great. You only remember your main gmail password. You do not need to remember your 16 digit app password.

You will not need to enter the 16 digit password ***** on the iPad; it will be remembered/saved from now on.

No, you do not need to enter a password ***** on the iPad; your email will work automatically from now on the iPad without entering any password.

(Unless in the future, you change your gmail password, then you just generate a new 16 digit app password ***** at the google website.)
