Hello, my name is Dan.
I will do my best to help you, the only stupid question is the unasked one.

The first thing to do in a sistuation like this is to reset the iMac.
Make sure you bookmark this page for easy return to let me know the results.
To reset the iMac doa restart from the Apple menu.
As soon as the screen turns balck press and hold thiese keys down together.

Option, Command, R and P.
Kepp them all pressed until the iMac cycles through three start ups (three chimes) then let go and let it finsh.
Usually this will fix that problem, it resets the PRAM.
Try that and then let me know how it works now.

Which key is 'option' key?

Thank you.

Expert:  Daniel replied 2 years ago.
Here is a photo of the keys.

It is the key right next to the Command key on both sides of the space bar.
Doing both Command and Option on one side makes it easier than trying for either side.
It may take what seems a long time but do not let go until 4 chimes are heard.

That help?
