Hi there and welcome
Is the new iPhone able to receive emails though?
Has it been setup for this email account that you are having problems with on the Mac and iPad?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Hi Richard

I can receive emails on ipad and desktop and can send from both to iphone sucessfully

Using same email account ,which iphone has verified

,But can't receive emails on iphone

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
Sorry Bob, I am a little confused now
Initially you said
" Can send emails to desk top and ipad but can't receive emails from either"
Now its
"I can receive emails on ipad and desktop and can send from both to iphone sucessfully"
Which conflicts with what you initially said
So the problem is just on the iPhone you cannot receive emails.
Is this the problem?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Sorry Richard

Yes ,my iphone4 can't receive emails but it can send them to ipad .

Problem only with iphone

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
No problem at all Bill, just clarifying.
Ok, as the first step, on the iPhone hold the power and home button for about 10 seconds until you see the apple logo, then release.
Let the iPhone restart and tell me if it now receives emails please. You can test by emailing yourself on the iphone.
Let me know the results please

Richard

Response

No mail

Cannot activate mobile data network

Not subscribed

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, this looks to be the issue Bob that the iPhone gets no data from the mobile network and this explains why you do not receive emails.
The Not Subscribed error means your provider has not given you data services. Who is your mobile phone provider?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

It's vodafone

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, if you want the iPhone to have data so it can receive emails, then you either need to connect to your wifi network at home by going to settings, wifi and connect to your network.
But if you want to receive emails when away from home, you need to have vodafone enable data services for your contract which will come with additional costs. If you wish for this, then contact them on
03333 040 191
And enable data on your phone.
Let me know the results please
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Did this and vod confirmed enabling...also got bleeping tone on phone

Tried test message but still response "no mail"

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, you will likely need to restart the phone to enable it now
on the iPhone hold the power and home button for about 10 seconds until you see the apple logo, then release.
Let the iPhone restart and tell me if it now receives emails please. You can test by emailing yourself on the iphone.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Done that and still "no mail"

Am getting the test message on ipad, so no problem with sending

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
If you go to Safari on the iPhone and open the App, and try to access a web page, can you see a web page?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

No,it says "you are not subscribed to a mobile data network"

Should I try the vod number again?

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
First, go to settings, general, reset, reset network settings.
Then try again
Let me know the results please
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Now it says "connection to the server failed"

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, ring vodafone again and tell them it has not internet and gives the error
you are not subscribed to a mobile data network
they have not enabled it correctly.
Let me know the results please
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Really struggling with delays and being passed around by vodafone

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
Sorry Bob, we have to do this as the error explicitly relates to Vodafone not allowing data on your phone, so we need to get past this first sorry.
Let me know how it goes please.
Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
How did it go Bob?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Very badly!

Vod engineer tried resets etc

Gave up eventually and referred me to vod store ,but I've no confidence in that

Do you have any ideas

Thanks

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
ok, only thing left is a complete phone reset Bob.
Did you do that via Settings, General, Reset, Erase all content and reset settings?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Richard

Deleted everything . Reset settings . Can get internet connection but still no mail

What am I not doing?

Bob

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.
Ok, so now if you open Safari, it now opens a web page?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

yes it does

Expert:  Richard replied 2 years ago.

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
