Resolved Question:

I have an imac currently on el capitan, it has just done an update, but I find that 'mail' won't load properly, it hangs part way through the 'inbox validation' step, it's hung like this for 3 hours without getting further than about 50% on the indicator bar.
any suggestions to work around this please?

Hi and Welcome. My Name is ***** ***** I look forward to assisting you today with your question. It is possible that the Mail database got corrupted. Force quit Mail if it is open. Press Command, Option and Esc keys. This will bring Force Quit. Select Mail and force quit it. Hold down Option key on your keyboard, click on Go menu and select Library. This will open the Library folder of your user account. Open the Preferences folder. Trash the file named and trash the if you can find it (ignore if you can't find these files) Then delete the Mail application's current state. Hold the Option key and then select Library from the Go menu in the top bar. Open the Containers > > Data > Library folder. This time open the Saved Application State folder and trash the folder/file "" Then hold down Option key on your keyboard, click on Go menu and select Library. This will open the Library folder. Open Mail folder. Open V2 or V3 folder. Open Mailboxes folder and trash the Mail Data folder (don't empty the trash). Then go back to Library folder, open Caches folder and delete the Mail folder. Open Mail app. Please let me know if that didn't work, so we can continue troubleshooting.

Follow the steps below to start remote support session. You have to do this from your computer itself. On your Mac, open Safari. Then goto this website ---> In FastSupport website, you will see two text columns. Name and Support Key. Under Name, enter your name and under Support Key enter this code --- >328664635 or click this link --> Click Continue and follow the onscreen instructions to connect. An application will be downloaded. So click on Download button in Safari (the downward arrow button on the top right). Another way to open Downloads is from Window menu or from View menu in the top within Safari. Then open the Citrix Online Launcher file you see there and then open the Citrix Online Launcher application and let it connect. If asked for permission, allow it. Let me know if you have any difficulty connecting to me.

If Mail is still not communicating with Talk Talk, then call TalkTalk and make sure their end is working. Their entire server is down currently. Once they are back online, your Mail will reestablish the connection automatically. If it still not working, then please reply back to me here and I will continue to help you. Best Regards,Ashik
