Customer Question

how can i get meth out off my system???
Submitted: 3 years ago.

Do you mean that you are having a reaction to the meth? If so, what reaction?
Or do you mean to clear the drug for testing? If so, when was the meth last used?

clear for testing

Expert:  Dr. D. Love replied 3 years ago.
Thank you for the clarification.

There is no intervention that has been proven to successfully accelerate the clearance of meth from the body. There is a potential benefit from drinking plenty of fluids, as it will increase urine flow and decrease the concentration of any drug in the urine. However, this effect is usually only sufficient to make a difference for those people that are close to the threshold of detection and if done excessively, it can actually cause problems with the testing process. The typical urine drug testing process will also check the urine to assure that it is not too dilute, and a urine that is excessively dilute will also be a type of failure of the test. Therefore, it would be appropriate to drink around 2-3 liters per day, but not too much more than this.

There are a variety of cleansing products that can be obtained, but these interventions typically also advise the drinking of large amounts of fluid and none of these products have been shown to be more effective than drinking fluids alone.

It is also appropriate to point out that meth is usually cleared relatively quickly from the body. The typical period of detection of meth by urine drug testing is up to 2-3 days, although there is always a certain amount of variability between individuals and there will be an occasional individual in which it can be detected for 4 days. Therefore, if the testing can be delayed until this period has passed, that would be the most effective means of passing the test.
