hello would you like to chat on this?
when were you diagnosed with bronchiectasis?
the 20th march 2013
have you been having the azithromycin since then?
since when has the excess mucous started?
after i was put on azithromycin
have you had tests like bronchoscopy?
or test for cystic fibrosis?
not for cystic fibrosis ,what does bronchoscopy mean?
bronchoscopy is a test where a tube is run down your airway
i would suggest that you discuss these two tests with your doctor
test for cystic fibrosis is needed as it can be a cause of bronchiectasis
i never had that done, had a lung scan, that showed the bottom of my lungs damaged, there is no cystic fibrosis in my family
but i would advise you to discuss this with your doctor
since you do not have any history of tb or severe lung infection
bronchoscopic wash is needed to rule out fungus infections like aspergillosis
this can also lead to bronchiectasis
discuss these two with your doctor
not that you must have these tests, but discussing them will lead to an informed discussion
for the excessive washings, menthol steam inhalation will be helpful
also suck Vicks cough logenges or any hard sweets constantly, this will cause a constant flow of saliva and give you relief.
expectorants like Mucosolvan expectorant (OTC) 2 tsf three times daily can be helpful and you should discuss this with your doctor
these steps will lead to a solution for you
Hope this shows you the way forward - wish you good health and a quick recovery.
