I would not jump to esophageal cancer if this is the concern.

Cancer of the esophagus would typically take decades fo poorly treated GERD, or heavy drinking and poorly treated GERD.

If there is an issue in this respect, then a GI doctor should do a scope.

Anxiety, dperession, generalized anxiety disorder, gastritis and stomach ulcer can all cause this feeling or contribute to it.
