This is Dr. David
it is normal to panic and have increased anxiety when you are short of breath.
this is not a sign of a heart related issue.
at your age, you should get your heart checked though with EKG and a cardiac echo ultrasound test.
but asthma by itself could be the cause of your symptoms.
when was the last time you had your heart checked?
have you had increased anxiety and panic recently?
are you there?
did you see my response above?
this is what I wrote

you could have a new anxiety disorder which you might need treatment for
there are specific medications for anxiety disorder.
it definitely sounds like you need some treatment for your anxiety
there are short acting agents like xanax or ativan
and longer acting agents like klonopin, or zoloft, and paxil and effexor or lexapro
and there is psychological counseling which might help.
you should talk to your doctor about these options.
no, this doesn't sound cardiovascular.
it sounds like this is asthma induced anxiety.
that over the years, because of your asthma, this has trained you to be worried about being short of breath.
and this has worsened your worries over possibly being short of breath.
that is ok.
