Shooting pain is due to the pressure on the nerve supplying your arm.
Due to the faulty sleeping position, the nerve passing through the shoulder got pinched and hence these symptoms.
Usually, the symptoms get better within 2 weeks.
Avoid sleeping on the affected side.
Physical therapy will help with your symptoms.
Ibuprofen can be taken for controlling the pain.

You should avoid using the affected arm till it gets better.
Hence, it is better not to carry the child on your affected side.
