This is Dr. David
I am sorry you are having these issues.
are you saying that the skin and muscles of your abdomen are distending more on the left side? growing outwards?
you could be having more swelling of your stomach or bowels.
you should get a scan inside of your abdomen to see see if your spleen or stomach or bowels are more distended on the left side.
your stomach and spleen are both on the left side of your abdomen.
you don't want to continue to let this go.
you want to talk to your doctor about getting an ultrasound or CT scan of the abdomen as soon as you can to make sure there is nothing in your abdomen growing and causing these symptoms.
do you have a doctor you can see who can order you some scans?
Yes I do. Should I contact them urgently or do you think it could wait a few days?
you should contact your doctor as soon as you can.
it might take a few days to get an appointment to see them.
and then it will take a few more days to schedule an ultrasound.
The skin & muscles seem noticeably distended when I look in a mirror and compare it with the right side.
that could be just normal asymmetry,
or it could be due to something growing inside and pressing on your back and causing your left lower back pain.
so that is why you need a scan to see inside your body.
have you noticed any changes of your bowels?
any blood in your stools?
have you ever had a colonoscopy before?
No blood in the stools but I have been constipated more often than usual and I sometimes have a feeling of not completely emptying my bowels. I have never had a colonoscopy.
well, I'm glad you asked for advice today.
do see your doctor and get an examination of your abdomen and see if an ultrasound scan would help look inside to see if there are any problems.
do you have any other questions?
No, thanks you.
you are welcome
