hi Geraldine
I see that we missed each other
Well, there are many reasons why your dad may be experiencing his symptoms.
For one, this could be a lung infection, he could have congestive heart failure, liver disease, kidney disease or even severe anemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
All of these things are treatable conditions, depending on the severity of the illness, so it is important to find out what is plaguing him.
Treatments may include
antibiotics
diuretics
heart medication
transfusion
breathing treatments
steroids

He does need to have an echocardiogram of his heart, EKG, liver function and kidney function tests, full blood count and electrolytes. As well, a troponin and BNP are in order.

I hope that this helps guide you somewhat
Please leave positive feedback if this helped :-)
