I had an EEG. The comment is that the background is normal.

Customer Question

I had an EEG. The comment is that the background is normal. There is mild excessive slow waves over both temporal regions which may be due to mild vascular insufficency but not clear epileptiform discharges were seen. What does this mean?

JACUSTOMER-zr8zepo7- :

That is not an answer

Mysticdoc :

Hi there,

I am Mysticdoc, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.

I am here to help you with your concerns.

Mysticdoc :

Why was the EEG ordered?

JACUSTOMER-zr8zepo7- :

Because i had migratory left arm sensory disturbance

Mysticdoc :

ok

Mysticdoc :

the EEG does not suggest any epilepsy or seziures.

Mysticdoc :

So this is not due to the seizures.

Mysticdoc :

The EEG suggests the reduced blood flow to the sides of the brain.

Mysticdoc :

This may be due to the mini strokes in the past.

Mysticdoc :

That can explain the sensory disturbances.

Mysticdoc :

Did you have any MRI scan of the brain?

JACUSTOMER-zr8zepo7- :

I never had a mini stroke and yes i had an MRI but it was normal

Mysticdoc :

Well-- that is what the EEG suggests.

Mysticdoc :

Did you have any MRA or contrast enhanced MRAngiogram?

Mysticdoc :

That will show minor vascular changes better than plain MRI.

JACUSTOMER-zr8zepo7- :

no

Mysticdoc :

you should request for that scan from your neurologist.
