Customer Question

Missed a period in April. Had severe lower back pain and had to urinate frequently. Tested negative 3 times for pregnancy. Had a period in May, which was very heavy with bright red blood and lots of big clots(that looked like raw liver) and it lasted about 10 days. I had severe lower back pain at that stage. Have not had a period since. Sometimes I don't have complete control over my bladder, especially when I cough or sneeze. Currently, no nausea, back pain or cravings but I do have flatulence.

Dr. David :

This is Dr. David

Dr. David :

you need to get an ultrasound scan of your uterus to find out why you are having such heavy bleeding.

Dr. David :

this could be coming from a uterine fibroid or something else going on in the uterus.

Dr. David :

also if you have had children before, you can lose strengthen in the lower pelvis which can cause urine leakage.

Dr. David :

you need to do kegel exercises.

Dr. David :

have you done kegel exercises before?

JACUSTOMER-q03yenrr- :

I do not have any children. It was just that one time that I have had such extreme bleeding.

Dr. David :

that extreme bleeding could be from you prior missed period.

Dr. David :

missing a period can cause the lining to build up extra heavy

Dr. David :

and your next period can be extra heavy.

JACUSTOMER-q03yenrr- :

I do have a sist on my ovary but it has been a couple of months since I have had any pain like I use to have when I am ovulating.

Dr. David :

yes, ovarian cysts can cause quite a bit of pain during ovulation sometimes.

Dr. David :

have you tried kegel exercises to help strengthen your pelvic muscles?

Dr. David :

this can help control your urine better.

Dr. David :

so you don't leak as easily when you cough or sneeze

Dr. David :

this is called stress incontinence.

JACUSTOMER-q03yenrr- :

Yes, I have and it has gotten a lot better than it used to be. It feels to me that I am just "leaking" a bit more than usual when I'm supposed to have my period.

Dr. David :

a uterine ultrasound can also check the bladder as well to check for bladder prolapse and bladder emptying issues.

JACUSTOMER-q03yenrr- :

Thank you for your advice.
