Ask a Doctor and Get an Answer to Your Medical Question ASAP
This is Dr. David
sounds like he is being treated for rheumatoid arthritis
which is an autoimmune disorder
that is why he is getting treatment of Humira and methotrexate.
there are other options such as Enbrel or Remicade as well which could help his rheumatoid arthritis.
are you interested in coming to the USA for treatment?
he could go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota
or Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio for treatments
We already contacted Mayo Clinic and sent the patient's detailed reports their answer was too general and we were not tottally satisfied they did not tell us what options do we have. their care plan and financial costs we would like to know before we go
they might need to review his medical records before giving a full care plan.
did you fax over his prior medical records?
we want to make sure that we will benefit from our travel their especially he is and old man and will get tired from travelling
I would also try cleveland clinic
or Mass General hospital in Boston.
reports have been sent by an email 8 months ago
have you contacted cleveland clinic?
not yet .. we have tried enprel and remicade and we have them here at home .. from your experience do you think there are other treatment or physio therapy more patient could benefit from them
rheumatoid arthritis can be a tough disease to fight.
it can be tough to suppress the body's immune system which is making antibodies against its own joints and tissue.
steroids have lots of side effects but is very effective in suppressing the immune system.
these same treatments are used in the US.
so we won't really benefit from travelling?
that is not true.
there might be clinical trails or more expertise in treating RA in those large centers
where there are expert rheumatologist who do research and are experts in their field.
so what do you recommend from your experience we follow pharmacological treatment or non pharma treatment such as physio therpay.. point worth to be mentioned patient fingers are twisted
patient should have both types of treatments.
both pharma and physical therapy.
our concerned that all the medicined you have mentioned have been used already so what can they provide more... and do you recommend cleavelend for both pharma treatments and physio?
yes they have a very good physical therapy program and rheumatology program as well.
and what about the fact that we have tried all the treatment you have been mentioned
there are other FDA approve treatments such as Simponi (golimumab)
and Cimzia (certolizumab) for severe RA.
do you know a faster way to contact the doctors over there to review his case other than web site and email ?
you can call the department and speak to a department manager
but you might have to call late at night your time
you have their numbers or it is available in website?
is cleveland clinics main referal number
do you have other questions?
best of luck to you and your husband's father
yes, that is for cleveland clinic
