I am 85 and require a knee replacement. Would you recommend a spinal or a general anasthenic please?

this would depend on your heart and lung functions.

general anesthesia is the best, but if you have problems with your heart and lungs, you might benefit from just a spinal anesthesia to numb you from your waist and below.

usually before surgery, there is a preop clearance meeting where you get to sit down with the anesthesia doctors or an anesthesia nurse and talk about your health issues.
