This is Dr. David
this could be an infected or blocked submandibular gland.
submandibular glands make saliva for the mouth and sometimes they can be blocked by a stone and swell up and be tender or they can become infected sometimes.
you might need a course of antibiotics or help calm down the infected.
sometimes warm compresses on the area and sucking on lemon candy can help unblock plugged duct from the salivary gland.
I'm glad it doesn't hurt.
then the gland may not be infected or blocked.
most likely this lump is not causing your headaches.
let me know if you have questions.
I am a cancer doctor
I treat cancer patients every day.
no, this doesn't sound like cancer.
cancer would be unlikely in your age group.
if you are worried about cancer, you can see your GP and get an ultrasound of your chin and neck area.
but I suspect they will find a normal lymph node or a normal submandibular gland.
different cancers have different symptoms.
there is not one symptom for all patients.
telling you more symptoms is only going to make you more worried about cancer.
and it seems you are very worried and concerned already.
so I don't want to make you more worried and anxious.
it doesn't sound like cancer.
