I'm Dr. Phil. Can I ask your first name?
Hi Doctor Phil
Hi there. Can I ask your first name?
Hi Pauline. Nice to meet you
Unfortunately, there is no way to know what PMR will do
Some get better, some get worse and some stay the same.
You should notice improvement over time though.
Many folks do
I am not in pain now, just incredibly stiff!
I'm very sorry for that.
I think it will get better over time
Do hope so, can be debilitating.
Yes, I know. I have some patients with PMR.
It can be very hard
I'm sorry you are suffering so bad
Bit like Arthritis at the moment.
try warm compresses to help with the stiffness
regular exercise is important too
Bones click and crack!
exercise and warm compresses helps my patients greatly
Improvement is slow.
yes, this is characteristic of PMR
slow to respond and slow to recover
It will take time.
Try to be patient
patience is a virtue :)
Hot showers help!
try a warm bath
Yes, that too.
any more questions for me Pauline?
Does it make you feel tired, sometimes?
definitely. And the medicines too can do that
Does it have to run its course, as I know of people
yes. For sure
who have recovered?
many of my patients have
Does it have to run its course?
Do many people have it for 5 years or longer?
I have patients that have
What advice can you offer me in dealing with it on a day to day basis?
You have to make sure that you just live a healthy lifestyle and take your medicines
1)eat right. Plenty of fruits/veggies
2)exercise daily (most important)
3)drink lots of water
4)take your meds
5)plenty of sleep
It's all you can do really Pauline
