Ken :

Hello

Ken :

I am DR Ken and I will be helping you today.

Ken :

Were any investigations done to see for the cause?

Ken :

Do you have any diagnosed medical condition?

Ken :

Are there associated symptoms like pain in abdomen or fever?

JACUSTOMER-5mqa1728- :

i have to answer no to all above

Ken :

Thank you for the additional information.

Ken :

Let me explain a bit.

Ken :

Your symptoms likely indicate reflux disease.

Ken :

Late meals may be the likely cause for it.

Ken :

Reflux can be due to varied causes like -

Ken :

Increased acid secretion in the stomach causes damage of the gasro-esophageal junction - leading to reflux.

Ken :

Causes like - excess alcohol intake/ smoking/ having heavy meals and immediately lying down/ stress/ having spicy meal or H.pylorie infection lead to increased acid secretion.

Ken :

Apart from reflux I would also like to rule out other causes as well -

Ken :

Abnormality at the trachea or bronchi - inflammation, allergy or infection/ post nasal drip OR

Ken :

some cardiac cause {less likely though}.

Ken :

Since when are you having these symptoms?

Ken :

You need to type in the box below for me to see and help you better.

JACUSTOMER-5mqa1728- :

ken i have in the past had very bad pain in the throat and chest area i went into very exstensive heart exploration and any problems ther wer discounted my doctor has been goinng down the reflux rout for some 4 yrs with no succes i must say that since thes symptoms have come about my other pain that i alieviated using try nitro srpay has all but gone

Ken :

Were investigations like - chest x ray/ upper GI scopy or ultrasound abdomen obtained?

JACUSTOMER-5mqa1728- :

no no real exploration work has been don my sister had a similar problem and was improved by gall bladder removal

Ken :

If I were you I would have obtained investigations to find out the cause.

Ken :

Next step -

Ken :

A physical evaluation {ENT doctor is preferred}. along with investigations like x ray for chest and paranasal sinuses/ ultrasound of abdomen/ upper GI scopy/ blood tests - would give us more answers.

Ken :

I am happy that there is no heart issue.

JACUSTOMER-5mqa1728- :

am going to make another appt with my doc and insist on further test by the way did have a barium meal showed only minimul reflux

Ken :

That may be the reason for your symptoms. BUT

Ken :

We need o find out the cause for reflux.

Ken :

Few things should help -

Ken :

Have balanced diet, adequate fluid/ avoid alcohol, smoking/ have multiple small meals instead of few large meals/ do not lie down immediately after food/ lose excess weight if any, exercise regularly/ stay away from stress or anxiety {Yoga, meditation help}.

Ken :

Does this make sense?

JACUSTOMER-5mqa1728- :

yes will cary on with the common sens things but will go down the more forcfull rout of wanting to find the couse and insist thes test you recomend are looked into

Ken :

Wish you well.

Ken :

Good Luck

JACUSTOMER-5mqa1728- :

thank you ken ther obviously is something that needs looking into further but thanks for the chat & help
