Dr. David :

This is Dr. David

Dr. David :

a diet of foods which will cause less inflammation and rich of antioxidants might help.

Dr. David :

that means more fruits and vegetables and less animal fat and saturated fats.

Dr. David :

exercise and proper sleep can help.

Dr. David :

also you might need to take anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen or naproxen sodium.

Dr. David :

some patients needs steroid eye drops to help decrease inflammation

Dr. David :

have you tried any eye drops or anti-inflammatories?

JACUSTOMER-qkxt0b15- : Yes I have beento Moorfields eye hosp London. They say I may have other autoimmune conditions, but did not test me. I had steroids but they stopped them after 6 weeks. My eyes get sore and red at times. I'm worried about my immune system. I have eye drops. For dry eyes.
Dr. David :

you need to see a rheumatology doctor and get blood testing to check for autoimmune diseases

Dr. David :

your body could be making antibodies against the eyes or sclera causing it to be inflamed.

Dr. David :

so you would have to treat the autoimmune disease to help the scleritis.

Dr. David :

hello?

Dr. David :

have you consulted with a rheumatology doctor to have autoimmune diseases ruled out?

Dr. David :

hello?

JACUSTOMER-qkxt0b15- : i went to GP and had rheumatology factor tested and it was ok. I showed this to Moorfields. They asked me if I had lupus. My mother had rheumatoid arthritis and two sisters are taking thyroxine. Why did the say scleritis is only present with other autoimmune conditions? No not recently I did see a rheumatologist for osteoarthritis in hands and I have had key hole surgery on my knee in the past. Then I did not have rheumatoid arthritis. Should I go to see him again. I do have private insurance.t what test can I have to determine autoimmune disease. Are you still chatting?
Dr. David :

yes.

Dr. David :

blood test like ANA (anti nuclear antigen)

Dr. David :

and ESR can be screening test to see if you might have an autoimmune condition.

Dr. David :

there are many many blood test you have can to look for lupus and other autoimmune diseases

Dr. David :

such as

Dr. David :

antibodies to double-stranded DNA (anti-dsDNA) tests,
antibodies to histone tests,
antibodies to phospholipids,
antibodies to Ro/SS-A and La/SS-B,
antibodies to Sm target Sm proteins in the cell nucleus,
antibodies to RNP target ribonucleoproteins

Dr. David :

rheumatoid factor is only one test for rheumatoid arthritis.

Dr. David :

many cases of scleritis is caused by autoimmune diseases.

Dr. David :

does this help?

hello?

JACUSTOMER-qkxt0b15- : hallo is this still in progress? What a lot of tests! I need to go back to GP. You would think a famous hosp like Moorfields would follow this up. Will this info stay on my I pad? Only one more question. My husband died with stage 4lung ca 18 months ago. I nursed him. I am a nurse. He died Ina hospice. Would this grief and stress have any bearing on my eye problem?7
Dr. David :

I am sorry about your husband.

Dr. David :

stress should not be causing scleritis.

Dr. David :
