Ive got this result from analysis: Please analyse

Resolved Question:

I've got this result from semen analysis:

Please analyse the report of semen analysis http://imgur.com/tUqtWoi

Providing that my partner is healthy what are the chances of pregnancy (high, low?). Secondly this report indicates two sperm numbers 7.5M and 15M all other previous reports only gave one number.

Which one they were referring to 15M or 7,5M?

This number is XXXXX from 2M to 15M in the last 4 years. I've also passed an varicocele operation last year. Number was 4M before that then 10M 3 months ago and now this is the latest one. With all this information shall we wait more or start ICSI?

Thanks,

I've been working hard to find a Professional to assist you with your question, but sometimes finding the right Professional can take a little longer than expected.

I wonder whether you're ok with continuing to wait for an answer. If you are, please let me know and I will continue my search. If not, feel free to let me know and I will cancel this question for you.

Thank you,

Hello. I am sorry you have waited so long for a response I am an ob gyn and deal with infertility both male and female.

7.5 million per cc is not an important number. 15 million is the overall count and is low which indicates oligospermia.

The varicocele repair will often improve the number of normal sperm forms but may not improve the actual count.

The spontaneous pregnancy rate is 6-8 percent over about 2 years, with oligospermia. You should proceed with icsi as recommended. Good luck!

Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX clarify based on the improvement in the last years and especially after the operation 2M to 15M.

Do you think it can get to 20M? (which I as far as I know is the normal amount).

ICIS is not easy or cheap, so if it looks like going to be 20M in 6-12 months,we want to wait.

Thanks,

Unfortunately that is not necessarily an improvement. While the number is XXXXX it does not increase the pregnancy rate. Even if it goes up to 20, it may not increase the pregnancy rate.

You may consider insemination with your sperm. Thats very inexpensive and would actually be the first step, not ICSI.

Thanks for coming to Ja, I would appreciate a positive rating.
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I'm a bit confused. Doctors say that 20M is the accepted normal sperm count for pregnancy, why doesn't it increase the chance?

Is it because of motility rate is low or something like that? It's more than the cost the process of it. We tried it once drugs and the process of it is draining.

Yes 20 is the minimum but it will increase the chance only minimally. Many men will still not be fertile with a count of 20. The count may continue to improve with the varicocele repair. As I mentioned above, you do not really need icsi, just insemination. While its difficult and emotional, it should not be quite as draining. Good luck.
