My GP is referring me to a psychiatrist because I am tired.

Customer Question

My GP is referring me to a psychiatrist because I am tired. He has tested for celiac I am negative. I have been anaemic for many months on and off but my blood count is just back at min range. Is there any other reason for tiredness/fatigue? I have been depressed for years but never felt like this with tiredness lethargy etc

Hello
Yes
Hypothyrodism
What is your TSH value?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
I have been tested for thyroid before and it's ok, not diabetic either

What is tsh?
Expert:  DrRussMD replied 3 years ago.
It is part of the thyroid studies.
Doctors , most of them, think it is OK up to 5.

But over 2.5 can be hypothyroid.
So you have to check this specifically, as it can be the reason for your fatigue if over 2.5.

Anemia must be explained..you might still have an underlying reason.

And depression can cause fatigue, as can any chronic illness.

They have put my anemia down to heavy periods but have been on norethisterone for six months now. One of my iron counts was 12 and the blood count 14

It might still help to continue iron for a while, but you need to know the TSH.
