Dr. David :

This is Dr. David

Dr. David :

how long has this been going on?

Dr. David :

you could have a pinched median nerve from carpel tunnel syndrome

Dr. David :

or low potassium or magnesium levels in your blood stream.

Dr. David :

do you have a history of excessive anxiety possibly?

Customer:

for about 6 weeks. I also wake up in the night and my arms are "asleep".

Dr. David :

you most likely are sleeping on your forarms at night time.

Dr. David :

and this can irritate the nerves

Dr. David :

and cause this pins and needles in your forefingers and middle ifnger.

Dr. David :

finger

Dr. David :

are you resting your head on your forearms when you sleep?

Customer:

no I sleep on my side and its usually the arm I aren't lying on! also my arms sometimes feel weak

Dr. David :

I see.

Dr. David :

sounds like you need to consult with a neurologist

Dr. David :

and get checked for possible carpel tunnel syndrome

Dr. David :

or pinched median nerve in your elbow or forearm which could be causing these symptoms

Dr. David :

and you need blood testing to check for low potassium and low magnesium levels.

Dr. David :

do you have a GP doctor you can see?

Customer:

my doctor has done blood tests and these are ok. he has suggested a trapped nerve but I don't get any pain

Dr. David :

make sure they tested for magnesium level

Dr. David :

that is not routinely tested for.

Dr. David :

a trapped nerve doesn't always cause pain

Dr. David :

it can cause twitching and pins and needles as well.

Customer:

I am worried in case it is ms or parkinsons.

Dr. David :

I see.

Dr. David :

well you would need to see a neurologist for more testing to check on those possible diagnosis.

Dr. David :

those would be unlikely

Dr. David :

but not zero percent chance.

Dr. David :

does this make sense?

Dr. David :

are you willing to see a neurologist?

Dr. David :

or ask your GP doctor to refer you to a neurologist?

Customer:

yes I will ask to refer. thank you

Dr. David :

you are welcome
