how can I cure urology incontinence after drinking alcohol

Customer Question

how can I cure urology incontinence after drinking alcohol?
Submitted: 2 years ago.
Category: Medical
Expert:  Dr. David replied 2 years ago.

Dr. David :

This is Dr. David

Dr. David :

how much alcohol are you drinking?

Dr. David :

you can do kegel exercises to help strengthen you lower pelvic floor muscles.

Dr. David :

also loosing weight can help improve incontinence.

Dr. David :

also cutting down on how much you drink.

Customer:

That has not really helped. Is there anything I can do if having a drink is unavoidable?

Dr. David :

are you having urinary incontinence?

Dr. David :

how much are you drinking?

Customer:

Only after drinking alcohol

Dr. David :

what are you drinking?

Customer:

once a week, no more than the average guy

Customer:

guinness

Dr. David :

how many pints are you having?

Customer:

the type of drink docent seem to matter

Customer:

8

Dr. David :

when do you start to have urinary incontinence?

Customer:

when I'm asleep

Dr. David :

I see.

Dr. David :

sounds like you are most likely going into a very very deep sleep and not knowing you are urinating on yourself.

Dr. David :

do you know what kegel exercises are?

Customer:

yes

Dr. David :

have you done them before?

Dr. David :

those exercises help strengthen your lower pelvic muscles

Dr. David :

and help keep the urine back when you have to.

Customer:

kegel exercises, what are they?

Dr. David :

kegel exercises are tightening exercises you can do with your lower pelvic muscles to help strengthen the muscle which helps keep your urine back.

Dr. David :

you can do them when no one is watching.

Customer:

how do you do them

Dr. David :

you can squeeze the muscle that you squeeze when you are stopping a bowel movement.

Dr. David :

and hold that squeeze for 5-10 seconds.

Dr. David :

and repeat that for 10-20 times a day

Dr. David :

and then when your muscle gets stronger, you can increase how long you squeeze your pelvic muscle for.

Customer:

will that help

Dr. David :

yes, over time, your pelvic muscle will get stronger.

Dr. David :

and will be able to hold back your urine better.

Customer:

is there any prescriptive drugs i could take

Dr. David :

no, there are no prescription drugs that will help.

Dr. David :

you really need to cut down on the amount of alcohol you are drinking.

Dr. David :

you will develop damage to your stomach or liver over time if you continue to drink like this.

Customer:

what about an operation

Dr. David :

the alcohol is too much and is putting you into too deep of a sleep that you can't wake up when you have to urinate.

Dr. David :

there is no operation that will help.

Customer:

I don't drink that often

Dr. David :

you can go see a doctor about this, but they will tell you to cut down on your drinking as well.

Dr. David :

how often is that? once a week?

Customer:

sOMETIMES NOT EVEN ONCE A WEEK

Dr. David :

8 pints is still too much at one time.

Customer:

Other fellas drink the same as me and have no problem

Dr. David :

if you cut down to 1-3 pints, you will have less of this problem.

Dr. David :

how do you know they don't have this problem?

Customer:

family members

Dr. David :

well, not everyone is the same.

Dr. David :

and just because they don't have this problem doesn't mean that you have to keep drinking with them like you do.

Customer:

I enjoy a drink now and then and this is a problem I would like to conquer but there is no cure other than abstain from drinking

Customer:

is that what you are saying

Dr. David :

you can do the kegel exercises to strengthen you pelvic muscles.

Customer:

i will try

Dr. David :

good luck to you

Dr. David :

do you have any other questions?

Customer:

no

Dr. David :

if done for now, please leave positive feedback below the chat box
