tegretol can cause low sodium levels and hyponatremia
sodium levels of 118 is very very low.
you need to be in the hospital on IV fluids to slowly get that sodium level back up.
correcting the sodium level too quickly can cause swelling of your brain.
because of your addisons disease, you are also not making enough steroids, one steroid is called mineralocorticoid or aldosterone which helps you reabsorb sodium into your body from your kidneys from keeping you from loosing sodium
you might need to go on a medication called fludrocortisone which might help you keep more of your body's sodium levels
you need to go to the hospital to help bring up your sodium levels.
are you in a hospital now getting IV fluids to help bring up your sodium levels?
are you on replacement steroids to help get your steroid levels up everyday?
let me know if you have any questions.
I only wandered if addissons might be an answer my daughter who the query is about has sturge weber syndrome but would it be possible she could have both.
it is a possibility.
she can see an endocrinolgist and get blood testing to check her AM ACTH and cortisol levels
to see if they show addisons disease.
has she had these test yet?
is she getting IV fluids to get her sodium levels up?
She is in hospital at present
that is good.
ask her doctors to check her am ACTH and cortisol levels
and ask if an endocrinology doctor can see her.
I hope her sodium levels get back up slowly
