This is Dr. David
bowel cancer would be unlikely at your age.
it sounds like you could be quite severely constipated with hard stools in your bowels slowing down the passage of stool.
you might need to do more than just use senokott.
What causes it to be like this. If nothing has changed in my diet etc
you most likely need to drink more water and eat prunes and use a stools softener like docusate sodium to help soften your stools.
sometimes as we get older, our bowels can change and you can develop new symptoms of constipation or diarrhea for no reason.
excercise therapy can help your bowels.
I have taken 2 the last couple of nights. Only been once.
also eating more fiber and whole grains.
as I said you need to do more than just take senokott.
you need to drink more water, eat more fiber, exercise, try eating prunes or prune juice
I have tried eating things in which contain fibre and drinking pints of water
and also use a stools softener as well like docusate sodium.
there are also many different types of laxatives as well.
senokott is a natural senna fruit laxative.
you might do better with miralax or ducolax or milk of magnesia laxatives.
but it sounds like you are still worried that there could be something going on in your colon.
you should make an appointment with a GI doctor
or ask your GP to refer you to a GI specialist and see if you can get a colonscopy.
usually patients your age don't need colonoscopy.
So I shouldn't be worried. Or need to see my doctor. I'm happy to try anything but working long hours worried ill get diahorea.
don't let your anxiety get out of control.
don't be worried.
it doesn't sound like you have had diarrhea yet.
Both my brothers. My twin and my elder brother 30 had a cool scope 2 years ago. After my mum got bowel cancer. We're advised from the doctor. I didn't was to much of a wimp
I had diahorea the first day after taking senokot. Literally ran toilet twice in morrisons
at least you should get your stools tested for blood once a year.
colon cancer tend to bleed
and this blood can be detected on testing of the stool.
did your mum get bowel cancer before age 50?
Yeah she was 48. She has a stoma. And it came back and spread to liver
she should be tested for genetic causes for colon cancer.
there are patients who have gene mutations like lynch syndrome or garderns syndrome or Hereditary familial colon cancer genes which cause colon cancer to be earlier than other patients.
she should be tested for these genes and if positive, her children should get early colonoscopies.
was she tested?
II'm not sure. Sorry for quick delay was speaking to my mum. My oldest brother 30 has been suffering from what doctor think irritate bowel as he goes to much. His doctor has refered him to have the camera again next week
I'll try more things. My mum worries for me. As this is so unlike me. With never having problems before and it been nearly 2 weeks
I understand your worry.
you can talk to your mum about if she had genetic testing .
good luck to your brother with his colonoscopy.
I hope your bowels become more regular
Thanks k yoy for your advice
