Ken :

Hello,

Ken :

I am Dr Ken and I will be helping you today

Ken :

Are there symptoms like - redness of breast/ difficulty in breathing/ cough?

Ken :

Is there pain at the right shoulder or elbow when you use the arm OR does it cause pain at the breast/chest?

Ken :

Does deep breathing cause pain?

Customer:

hi dr Ken there is no redness, when I use my right arm it does hunt my breast, yes there is a pain with deep breathing

Ken :

Marie, thank you for that additional information.

Ken :

I am happy that there is no redness or lumps on the breast. It rules out any hematoma within the breast.

Ken :

I am a bit worried of pain getting triggered by arm movement and breathing though.

Ken :

It can be due to two causes -

Ken :

1. Fracture at the rib {worries me the most}

Ken :

and

Ken :

2. Sprain at the pectoral muscles {these are the muscles which are deep to the breast tissue}.

Ken :

Next step -

Ken :

I would get a chest x ray to look for ribs {especially}.

Ken :

Till than

Ken :

Warm compress over the chest should give relief. Ibuprofen should help too.

Ken :

Do not move your arm to a level to trigger pain in the chest.

Ken :

Does this make sense?

Customer:

oh yes

Ken :

Please do not worry.

Ken :

If it is sprain of the muscle than it may take a week or two to heal

Ken :

Analgesic medicine and warm compress would speed the healing.

Ken :

However fracture needs to be ruled out for sure

Customer:

do i rub the cream on my breast.

Ken :

As there is no swelling or redness over the breast - There is no role of any cream.

Ken :

Ibuprofen or paracetamol would be of more help.

Customer:

thank you if the pain is no better in a couple of weeks I will make an appointment with my dr

Ken :

I am sure you will be fine soon.

Ken :

Best

Ken :

:)

Customer:
