Rash on face

Resolved Question:

For the past year and a half I've been getting a raised, pinkish rash come up just below my eye, on my cheekbone, it's always in the same place. The skin becomes slightly itchy and pink at first but when the rash comes up, it STOPS being itchy but the rash remains for about 6-20 hours. I've noticed being in the sun seems to trigger it - it was also once triggered when I was under an extremely bright artificial light during a photo-shoot. I only get this rash on this one patch of my face. When the rash goes down, the skin on that patch is slightly more wrinkled and texturally looks worse than the rest of the skin on my face. Please advise?

thank you

Do you take any medicines or have any joint pain, rash elsewhere or any other symptoms?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

No I don't take any medicines at all and no I have no joint pain or any other rash anywhere on my body.

Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 3 years ago.
okay. this could be one of two things

1)rosacea. this is a typical nasolabial rash and is related to the skin getting inflamed next to the nose

2)a malar rash which can be a sign of lupus
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Thank you, XXXXX XXXXX any particular test that would clarify which?

Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 3 years ago.
You might need a skin biopsy

Alternatively, a trial of medicine for rosacea would be reasonable

Metronidazole gel on the face and if it clears up, it is rosacea as that is the most likely diagnosis
