Ive lost about 30lbs recently and now if I lie on my back

Customer Question

I've lost about 30lbs recently and now if I lie on my back and press down on my stomach about an inch underneath my tummy button I can feel a knobbily convex bony structure - am I pressing on the inner side of one of my vertebrae?

Hello and welcome.
I am Dr. Norm, and I look forward to helping you today.

Most likely what you're feeling is the front part of your lumbar spine. So I think it is the front side of the vertebrae. You can see a picture of it here https://www.google.com/search?q=picture+of+lumbar+spine&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&imgil=W31OIGz1ZXId2M%253A%253Bhttps%253A%252F%252Fencrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com%252Fimages%253Fq%253Dtbn%253AANd9GcS9g1kXttC3td5RPULG5j0ke7Oug-WM1LN7jCSxKkOKDxF0fT5aOw%253B250%253B247%253BFm4JPs8WbW-8KM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Forthoinfo.aaos.org%25252Ftopic.cfm%25253Ftopic%2525253Da00329&source=iu&usg=__IgbpnuFvSfsJjK_Ot6w1bRhGQpc%3D&sa=X&ei=tVoOU6CMKKHb2AWxmIHoDA&ved=0CEAQ9QEwAA&biw=976&bih=805#facrc=_&imgrc=W31OIGz1ZXId2M%253A%3BFm4JPs8WbW-8KM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Forthoinfo.aaos.org%252Ffigures%252FA00311F01.jpg%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Forthoinfo.aaos.org%252Ftopic.cfm%253Ftopic%253Da00329%3B250%3B247
