This is Dr. David
she had the staples removed one day after her discharge?
the staples were removed too quickly then.
that is why her wound openned up and she is now having to heal by secondary intention from the inside out.
this is a much slower healing process.
she should have had the staples left in for at least 2 weeks.
Hi Dr David
Hi Dr David thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly can you please tell me how long it will take to heal up now as she is worried sick about it, the maternity hospital dose not want to know they keep referring her back to her own doctor
healing times vary from patient to patient.
and depends on how deep and wide the wound is at this point.
I don't know why her staples were removed so quickly.
but the wound now could take still another 4-6 weeks to heal.
healing by secondary intention is slower .
and the body has to create granulation tissue which is scar tissue to heal up the area
she needs to increase her protein and vitamin C intake to help with wound healing.
she would benefit from having a wound care nurse see her once a week as well to make sure things are healing up properly.
