Customer: The lower back pain on for about 10 yrs now/. Middle back pain on for about 3 yrs/ No any other med. problems/ Yes on drugs
Dr. Shahzad MD :

I personally think that you should be further investigated for this with an MRI of your lower back pain to see whats the cause of this.
The most common cause of this kind of pain is due to degenerative disc disease.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

This diagnosis is confirmed by doing an MRI of your lower back.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

If there is a degenerative disc disease proven on MRI then you may require surgery to help with this. In addition to surgery there are other options like injections like epidural infections or spinal cortisone injections that can help.

Customer: Thanks Doc. But what is degenerative disc disease and MRI. THis is 'cos I've not had any investigation on this. Pls does this service include helping patients to secure oversea medical treatment.
Dr. Shahzad MD :

MRI is a special kind of x-ray to have a look at your back.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

In our back there are bones called vertebrae and between the bones there are discs.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

When the discs wear out with time or with physical activity its called degenerative disc disease.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

The discs press on nerves and cause pain.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

This services does not include help to secure overseas medical treatment.

Customer: Yes Doc over 10yrs.
Dr. Shahzad MD :

This again seems most likely to be due to degenerative disease of the shoulder joint.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Wear and tear (degenerative disease) can affect almost any joint in the body and is particularly common in the back and the shoulder.
