My daughter who is early 30s has three children, 10yrs, 3yrs

Resolved Question:

My daughter who is early 30's has three children, 10yrs, 3yrs and the youngest nearly 2. she has always been selective in what she eats, and gets extremely anxious about trying new foods. Her anxiety levels are increasing, as she feels the children are following her eating patterns, and when they refuse the food she does give them, she becomes even more anxious She has discoverd a disorder known as Selective eating disorder which is apparently recognised in America, but not here. I'm not sure if this knowledge is helpful or harmful! Her husband works long hours but does help out when at home. I don't know where to direct her with this for the most appropriate help. She has had early years advisors, but they are for the children not their mother.

Hello
Psychologist or psychiatrist.

Let me clarify, she has not seen either?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I feel her approach has always been about her concerns over her children's eating and not really addressing her own, at least she says no-one is listening.

OK
So will she see a practitioner?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

She says she'll ring her doctor tomorrow, but if they are not taking her seriously, who can she request to see?

Expert:  DrRussMD replied 3 years ago.
PhD, clinical psychologist.
Their training is more toward therapy and eating disorders.

That is the first line.

I am seeing my daughter tomorrow and will ask what her questions are and what it is she wants, and get back to you when she has seen her doctor.
