I was doing some high impact running on the spot this morning

Customer Question

I was doing some high impact running on the spot this morning and something in the top of my right calf suddenly made a very painful 'pop'.

Walking is extremely painful and calf pain is high as I push my weight forward on my right
foot. What should I do to help myself?

Hello. I'm Dr. Phil, licensed and practicing internist. Excellent service is my goal.

Thanks for this question

Most likely you have had a tendon rupture or a baker's cyst in the knee

The best thing to do for now is conservative management

1)stay off the leg

2)elevated it

3)ice packs

4)ibuprofen

5)a bandage wrap to keep fluid down

See your doctor as soon as you can get it. You may need an MRI of the leg
