Customer Question

Hi there

I was recently admitted to hospital with pain in my abdomen (under belly button). I was given an ultra sound which showed that my bladder was clear & so were my kidneys. They have found I have a small benign tumour on my left kidney. I was started on cipro & took 2 a day for 5 days. I have now completed the course but now although the pain in my abdomen is fine, I now have mid back pain.
Any ideas?

There are unfortunately a variety of things that can cause back pain. This is a very non-specific symptom, and it does not mean that you have a kidney infection.

The most common causes of back pain are musculoskeletal; strained or pulled muscles, arthritis (usually in older individuals), herniated discs (usually of sudden onset) or a pinched nerve.

Hi, Allow me to help you understand your particular health issue. I provide compassionate, considerate information. A few questions:

1. What is the date of your last menstrual period (LMP)? Do you have discomfort, i.e. body aches with your periods?
2. Any discomfort with urinating? if so for how long?
3. Are you taking any other medications? if so what?
4. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being mild, 10 = severe, please rate your pain. if it has changed in intensity then describe.
