Ask a Doctor and Get an Answer to Your Medical Question ASAP
Hi there. Thank you for your question. I will be helping you out with your queries
Thanks Doctor I would also like to mention that I am not extremely fat however I have picked up 7kgs
furthermore I use brazepam to sleep as I do suffer from insomnia
How much fluids do you take in a 24 hour time
about 1 litre that would include water and coffee however it is getting colder and I have reduced my water intake
What about the amount of caffeinated beverages?
How much do you take those?
I have a cup of tea in the morning the rest of the day I sip on water and sometimes at night a cup of coffee or tea or hot chocolate
What does your doctor say is the cause of this?
she couldnt conclusively diagnose me like I explained in my introductory statement she said it could be that my bladder swopped out my daily and nightly urinary patterns
she suggested i take the sugar test which i done and it is negative
Has lyrinel helped any?
it does help although i still am aware that i have to go to toilet and i havent taken it regularly
what i mean i still know that i want to pee is that i can still feel the need to go to the loo although it is not urgent
and I did not take the lyrinel as I do not want to function on a tablet as a long term condition
Since how long are you having this problem?
I noticed it about 2 months ago
How is your kidney function?
could Doc be more specific with regarding to kidney problems ?
as I am not aware of having any such problems
What is your creatinine level?
Creatinine clearance and GFR?
that i do not know ... neither do i know the GFR
if you referring to the colour of my urine it is very clear
not color of urine
then i do not know the creatinine level and gfr...
Increased night time frequency of urination can be due to deranged kidney function.
Which is one thing that you should confirm or should be confirmed with testing.
please explain deranged kidney function ?
Deranged kidney function means raised creatinine level, reduced GFR which stands for glomerular filtration rate.
Are you with me?
ok i understand I need to go back to the doctor and do a kidney test however is there any other possibility ???
Can you please let me know if you are on any other medications for anything?
Please let me know.
i use brazapam for sleeping as I suffer with insomnia
besides that I do not use any other medication except if I have a headache or flu
Since how long are you using this?
I have insomnia for the last 27 years and I have used several other tablets to assist me to sleep like nomisol however the last 3 years I am using brazepam
What is your height and weight?
Do you have any other medical problems?
Other problems like sleep apnea?
i weigh 47 kgz
I am 4.2
Any other medical problems?
i dont have sleep apnea loosing breath while sleeping coz usually the tablets make me sleep right through
i dont have any other medical problems
Have you been under more stress recently or in the past few months?
yes i could be although stress does'nt have clear symptoms]
I understand, I think that your symptoms could be either stress related or related to medication i.e. bromazepam (although its rare to have nocturia with it but its still possible).
Other causes include bladder hyperactivity, interstitial cystitis.
Lyrinel is something that will most likely help if its due to bladder hyperactivity or stress.
so should i take the lyrinel more regularly ?
and when should i stop it
i dont want to have it as chronic
You should take it before going to bed.
and more regularly.
and when would i know to stop it ?
well, first of all we need to know if its effective or not.
If its effective then I would use it for at least two to four weeks.
it seemed effective since i slept after i took the lyrinel
so you should continue taking it.
and then should i stop it after 4 weeks
Stop it after four weeks and see if your symptoms have improved.
i just read doctor oz explaining that 20 million women suffer the same problem although i could not follow his entire programme and did not hear exactly what he was referring too ... do you perhaps know ?? what is it that 20 million women suffer with that causes them to go to toilet at night ?
and if the symptoms has not improved after 4 weeks then what should I do ??
by the way I have never been pregnant
Usually the cause is not known. Idiopathic in other words.
what is idiopathic
idiopathic means cause is unknown.
In almost all these cases medications like lyrinel are used.
are u confident that lyrinel will or have assisted to overcome this problem
as i am desperate
I am confident.
is there any other things i could do besides not drinking beverages at night and using the lyrinel maybe something herbal ?
i dont want to be dependent on the lyrinel after 4 weeks
in the event if it does not work
Try and reduce stress as much as you can.
caffeine i reduced drastically from 7 to 8 cups a day to maybe 1 or 2
stress is unidentifiable and i dont know whether it is a conclusive deduction to say reduce stress
I understand but thats how it is.
i am not happy with that response
In other words.
There is usually no known cause of this.
I would like that your kidney function should be evaluated first.
hence i enquired whether there was anything else like a bladder cleanse thing i could do etc
i will have my kidney tested
could it be water retention ?
If you had water retention you would be swollen.
should i use citro soda ?
There is no need for that
what else strengthens the bladder
Pelvic floor exercises.
i have mentioned this but would like to re-iterate that i drank the lyrinel at 1am this morning with about half a glass of water and i was shocked to find that the amount of water was immediately peed out
You can find more details on pelvic floor exercises on the following link:
These may help with your urine as well.
