ive had a blood test recently and just want to know if anything was very wrong would it have been discovered? one of them was tsh thyroid would any problems have been poicked
Do you know the results?
what symptoms do you have?
my doctor said everything was fine
do you have any symptoms?
I just feel really spacey and "not there" all the time
I also had full blood count, liver, kidneys, iron etc and were all fine
That is reassuring.
The TSH blood test picks up thyroid gland problem in more than 90 of the cases.
90% of the cases
In some cases, additional tests may be required to diagnose thyroid problem.
Do you get regular periods?
yeh every 28 days
ok then this is not likely thyroid problem.
thyroid problem will affect your periods.
Likely psychological reason for your spaciness.
Consider seeing a psychiatrist.
my doctor has told me anxiety but can it really make you feel this ill 24/7
I was talking to a doctor on here a while ago and he said the problem could be thyroid and even though tests came back fine doctor doesn't know as guidelines have changed and gp's could think its fine when its not. that scared me
suggested I went to a functional medical institute
you can ask your GP the exact value.
As long as your TSH is 2.5 or below, you are fine.
don't even know what that is
This more of alternative medicine which addresses the body holistically.
Scientifically it may be beneficial for some individuals if no significant medical abnormality found in routine blood tests.
But if there is high clinical suspicion for thyroid problem, then additional blood tests like free t4 level, thyroid peroxidase antibody levels can be ordered.
my doctor says it was fine so should I trust that?
I think so --
You can ask your doctor for the copy of your results.
could there be any other explanation for the spacey weird feeling? its just like im not on the planet.
Neurological conditions like seizure disorder, multiple sclerosis, brain tumor are other possibilities.
they are less common --but since you asked I mentioned about them.
brain tumour is something im worried about.
could this be whats wrong?
would I have other symptoms?
other symptoms like headaches, weakness of face and limbs, may be experienced but not always.
There is no definite way to rule out brain tumor just by symptoms.
MRI scan of the brain is the best way to rule that out.
And a EEg can be ordered to rule out any seizure disorder.
Some types of seizures ( partial seizures) can cause spaciness without any other symptoms.
Hence, a neurologist can be consulted with.
I don't have any other symptoms. my doctor says its definso teley not a tumour as they don't present in this way
Your doctor is right in 98% cases.
But in 2% cases, there can be brain tumor, or seizure disorder.
ive felt like this for 10 weeks now
ok the time frame is short --10 weeks is not that long.
in case of brain tumor, the symptoms usually worsen over time.
In case of anxiety or psychological disorder, your symptoms will remain unchanged.
my symptoms havnt changed
its just this one spacey feeling
ok then this is not likely anything serious like brain tumor.
im really worried now with you saying it could be a tumour
the doctor did a test behind my eyes and did some balance tests which were fine aswell
Ok --that is also reassuring --
im really scared now coz my doctor said I definitely did not have this now you are saying its possible
you can never rule out completely just by signs and symptoms.
A brain scan is the only way
So go for the brain scan.
the doctor wont refer me as says I don't need this
do you think im going to die?
You will not die.
how if its a brain tumour?
brain tumor does not kill a person usually.
many tumors are benign nd often do not require any treatment.
So even if a person has a brain tumor, that is not a death sentence.
im so scared
I just want this spaciness gone
ive had this spaciness on and off since 13
You can try anti anxiety medication-- Lorazepam for example.
im on sertraline which my doctor gave me
was on citalopram before thst
can anxiety cause these symptoms?
Yes anxiety can cause these symptoms.
my doctor etc has said its depersonalisation
correct --that is the likely diagnosis.
im really scared I have a tumour now im sat here crying.
Please do not worry too much.
how can I not, its really frightening
then you need to get a brain scan to control your anxiety.
honestly do you think ive got a tumour?
Honestly I do not think so.
I was speaking to a cancer doctor and tumours doctor on here and they too said I did not have this
now I no theres a chance I could im terrified
do you think ill get better from this?
yes ofcourse over next 6-8 weeks
why 6-8 weeks?
Usually that is the time required for sertraline to work most effectively.
ive been on it for 6 weeks already
then this may not be right medication for you.
I was on 50mg for 4 weeks now been increased to 100mg for 2 weeks
doctor said need to give it 2 more weeks
to try and explain how I feel a bit better. its like im sitting on the sofa and im not really here its like im unreal in a way
I think I already discussed this with you-- but you never paid --today you are with different username right?
no that wasn't me ive never spoken to you before
ive only been on here once and that was a different doctor
For further conversation please pay now since it already over an hour.
well that's a bit rude, I was going to give you a excellent rating once we were done but first you accuse me of pretending to be someone else then you refuse to help me I was always going to pay. Im really upset here and scared and I feel like just a number now and all your interested in is the money.
we are chatting for at last 80 minutes and i am open to any further questions.
My time and expertise are valuable and always available to my other customers as well who are paying in time.
I am not able to neglect other customers which will be unfair to them.
all I want to know is that im going to be ok and not die then ill go. I originally came on just about the thyroid but im really really scared about the brain tumour now which has made this last longer. I wasn't even that worried about that till now as my doctor said definitely not
ill go now, but course ill pay as I always intended to do just wanted some help and to put my mind at rest. you pay by clcking on the faces below don't you?
I did not mean to offend you --many customers here are new and not sure how to pay.
I gave you a reminder in that sense.
And as per the site policy, i am only supposed to address the original question on thyroid.
But as a favor, i also discussed the brain tumor issue with you to provide due reassurance.
Yes to rate and authorize the payment you need to click on the smiley faces.
Again I am glad to answer any question you have, we need to follow the website policy as well.
no problem, so finally do you think ill be ok and wont die?
Yes you will be ok --and this is not brain tumor as your GP has suggested.
You do not have any other signs and your symptom has remained the same --not charactristic of a brain tumor.
thankyou, that's what I wanted to know
best of luck,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
