Hi ive recently recovered from a bad/chest cold that turned

Resolved Question:

Hi i've recently recovered from a bad/chest cold that turned into an ear infection the monday before last i've finished with the antibiotics and the other symptoms are gone but my ear still feels heavy and under pressure with occasional crackling noises. I've already got a grommet in that side from last may, which I'm worried isn't working should I see a doctor again or just wait it out?

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Hi there. Thank you for your question. I will be helping you out with your queries

Dr. Shahzad MD :

I think that you should get the grommet checked out.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

You should see your doctor rather than waiting it out so that your ear can be examined.

Customer:

any idea what the problem might be and what I can do to help?

Dr. Shahzad MD :

I think that the problem is that the eustachian tube may be blocked.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

and probably the grommet may not be working which is causing your to have the ear pressure and the ear feeling heavy.

Customer:

yeah, it feels like theres something there and thats what making the crackling

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Yup

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Any more questions?

Customer:

any thing I can take to clear it up? and also, I saw a doctor last week while i was taking the antibiotics he just said that the grommet was still there and that the eardrum was pink in places I'm just worried now though cause its not clearing up

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Are you taking something like sudafed or any decongestant?

Customer:

no,

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Can you enumerate the medications that you are on.

Customer:

none at the moment

Customer:

finished the antibiotics on monday

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Is your ear still hurting?

Dr. Shahzad MD :

What are your symptoms at the present moment?

Customer:

it feels blocked, sometimes when I move my jaw i hear an echoey sortal kinda like when you put your ear to a shel, muffled hearing

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Have you had your ENT doctor have a look at it?

Customer:

it feels kinda sore but i wouldn't call it pain you know

Customer:

no i'm in england, so you gotta wait a few months to be reffered and such

Dr. Shahzad MD :

If you are not having fever or any ear discharge I would not worry too much

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Meanwhile you can take over the counter decongestants that contain pseudoephedrine to help.

Customer:

would you know which one(s) do specifically?

Customer:

sorry to keep bothering you

Dr. Shahzad MD :

Sudafed.

Dr. Shahzad MD :

But I am not sure if this is over-the-counter in UK.

Customer:
