My husband Derek was put on blood pressure tablets two different

Resolved Question:

My husband Derek was put on blood pressure tablets two different ones each day several years ago ,he has vitamin B injection every two months, one he has a phobia petrified of needles and every time he went to the doctor he broke out in a sweat, hence is pressure rose, he should never have been prescribed these pills in the first place. I purchased a blood pressure machine a few years back monitored his blood pressure and it was OK. I started to accompany him to the nurse at the surgery with the readings. The outcome has been confirmed white coat syndrome, when asking the nurse I want to come of these pills the answer was, because you have been taking them for quite a few years and you are fine we will keep you on them. A pharmacist asked Derek why have they kept you on the pills.

Please can you advise the correct way to wean off these tablets a they have greatly interfered with his our love life.

Regards
Derek's wife

The best way to stop these medications is to stop them gradually.
Reducing the dose by 10-20 percent every week.
You can do this by getting a pill cutter from a pharmacy and cut the tablet into four to six pieces if possible.
Reduce by one piece every week until you stop.
This should best be done in consultation with your doctor.
