Resolved Question:

Hi

My blood test results show an underactive thyroid, I had a test end of March and now in May. The doctor is not giving me any medication and is monitoring this and has sent me for another blood test in August. Is this the right advice I'm getting? I don't feel ill or tired..

Dr. David :

This is Dr. David

Dr. David :

what was your TSH level?

Dr. David :

the right advice depends on how underactive your thyroid is

Dr. David :

and that would be determined by the TSH level

Dr. David :

or thyroid stimulation hormone level.

Dr. David :

TSH levels above 5.0 really should be treated.

Dr. David :

TSH levels between 3.0 and 5.0 may or may not be treated, depending on your symptoms.

Dr. David :

TSH levels between 0.3 and 3.0 means your thyroid hormone is normal

Dr. David :

TSH levels below 0.3 means you are hyperthryroid and you have too much thyroid hormone in your system

Dr. David :

let me know if you have questions.

Dr. David :

why did you rate bad service?

Dr. David :

I am here.

Dr. David :

hello?
