This is Dr. David
you should not be having bloody bowel movements and vomiting daily
your diabetes could be causing neuropathy and nerve damage.
urinary retention is a sign of spinal cord damage or severe nerve damage.
severe advanced diabetes can also cause stomach paralysis and gastroparesis or lack of movement of food through the stomach.
So what could be wrong
if you have had diabetes for a long time, this can damage nerves
and cause neuropathy
and these damaged nerves can cause nerves not to work to control your bladder.
and cause the nerves which control the stomach to not work.
which can result in paralysis of your stomach called gastroparesis
you need to ask your doctors if you have gastroparesis.
and get a scope down into your stomach
there are medications which can help this
like Reglan to help gastroparesis.
and also neurontin to help with neuropathy.
Have been diabetic for 9 years do you feel this is an urgent matter just feel dizzy and vision going blurry what would you suggest
What is causing vomiting of blood and loose stools
a stomach ulcer can cause vomitting of blood
you need to have this evaluated and treated as soon as possible
I would not let it go
you should go to a A&E center and see a doctor there.
your GP needs to send you to a GI physician as soon as possible
to look down your stomach
do you drink alcohol?
Can it wait until monday
alcohol can cause stomach ulcers and esophageal varicies
which can bleed
no I wouldn't wait until monday.
you can loose a lot of blood from your GI system silently
if you continue to bleed internally and don't stop.
Have had alcohol problems in the past could this be xonnected
prior alcohol can cause stomach ulcers
and cause esophageal varicies which can bleed
And what would this mean
that you are bleeding into your stomach
and you might not stop bleeding until you see a GI doctor who can go down your esophagus with a scope to stop the bleeding.
patients can bleed to death this way.
So is it bad then
let me know if you have other questions.
if done, please leave positive feedback below
So what should I do
you might have to scroll down to see the ratings area
you should go to the A&E and tell them you are vomiting up blood
and ask them to refer you to a GI doctor as soon as possible.
or call up your GP today and ask for a referal to a GI doctor as soon as possible.
Would this mean been admitted over weekend if so I will wait until Monday
they might admit you over the weekend.
it depends on your red blood cell count.
if you have lost a lot of blood, you are probably anemic.
and you might need to stay in the hospital.
you could be dehydrated as well
or have electrolyte imbalances like metabolic alkalosis.
If that's the case I shall wait until monday
What does the latter mean
that is an electrolyte imbalance from vomiting too much.
What will happen
you could be dehydrated.
you could have organ failure.
kidney failure .
you could loose lots of blood silently.
your stools can turn black.
you could die or pass out.
