I'm remote from her. Unfortunately she's on a course, so having to try and do this remotely.
Not sure about blood pressure
She was basically feeling fine in herself, but had this problem with the fingers for about 24 hours and now feels dizzy
just a couple of minutes
I can send messages to my wife of any questions you have
does she have any problems like hypertension?
I don't think so
she did think in the evening that her heart beat felt strange... but possibly it's just in the mind with the physical problems with her hand
hello sorry for that
just give me a minute as I am also attending a pt here
just a minute
i am back again
did she have anything like a blackout?
I'm talking on the phone with her.... she said that she feels that the heart is beating fast and irratically... she's very scared
can be due to two causes
her two fingers are totally numb
one is something in the brain like a minor stroke
and now her total hand is numb
the other possibility is a local swelling like a median nerve entrapment
if her whole hand is numb it is best to show the doctor
ok.... should we take urgent action?
it could be just anxiety
but she should not take the change
ok.... i understand.
yes, this is an emergency
she has to go to the ER now
it could be a mini-stroke called a TIA
transient ischemic attack
with her age i do not think it is likely
but since she is having numbness of the whole hand this must be ruled out
ask her to go to the nearest ER
there she should ask about TIA
tests like CT or MRI of the brain is needed for this
she should discuss this with the ER doctor
overall chances of TIA is very less considering her age and other factors
but her complaints make it necessary to go to the ER
ask her to do so and discuss with the doctors like I said
this will get her more careful examination
Hope this shows you the way forward - wish her good health and a quick recovery.
