Dr. David :

This is Dr. David

Dr. David :

it sounds like you could have overactive bladder syndrome.

Dr. David :

this is when the muscles of the bladder go into spasms.

Dr. David :

and this can cause you to have frequent urination and weak flow.

Dr. David :

there are medications to help with overactive bladder muscles.

Dr. David :

this would not be seen on cystoscopy

Dr. David :

medications like vesicare or detrol can help relax your bladder muscles.

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Do I need prescription for these

Dr. David :

yes these are prescription medications.

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Would this be a cure or treatment I would need for life

Dr. David :

ask your urologist for a urodynamic study of your bladder and prostate

Dr. David :

this can check for overactive bladder muscles.

Dr. David :

if you have excessive anxiety, this can worsen bladder muscle spasms.

Dr. David :

it can be treated and improved with medications.

Dr. David :

and you can continue to do your pelvic floor exercises.

Dr. David :

and avoid caffeine and alcohol

Dr. David :

both of which can irritate your bladder muscles.

Dr. David :

and avoid smoking.

Dr. David :

does this help?

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Yes drinking defiantly worsens it

Dr. David :

I see.

Dr. David :

yes, you have to avoid drinking alcohol

Dr. David :

best of luck to you

Dr. David :

do you have any other questions?

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Yes

Dr. David :

if done, please leave positive feedback below.

Dr. David :

we only get credit for helping clients after positive feedback.

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Yes I understand

Dr. David :

do you have any other questions?

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

When I urinate it.feels very tight compared to how it.used to is this associated with over active bladder

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Sometimes I have burning too

Dr. David :

these symptoms could be due to urethritis

Dr. David :

or inflammation of the urethra

Dr. David :

urethritis can come from sexual activity or from irritation from alcohol

Dr. David :

or sometimes a viral infection can irritate the urethra.

Dr. David :

the urethra is the urine tube through the prostate and through the penis.

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Is it normal for these symptoms to come on suddenly? what could cause it? I can't seem to find an obvious reason for it to have happened

Dr. David :

yes, sometimes urethritis can come on suddenly.

Dr. David :

excessive anxiety can cause this

Dr. David :

or something you drank.

Dr. David :

caffeine or alcohol can irritate the urethra.

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

What sort of treatments are available for this

Dr. David :

avoid alcohol and caffeine

Dr. David :

drink more regular water and fluids

Dr. David :

the more fluids you drink, the more flushed out your bladder and urethra will be.

Dr. David :

if you are not drinking enough water or fluids, this can cause burning when you pee.

Dr. David :

are you drinking enough fluids during the day?

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Yes but if I drink more it doesn't make a difference just causes me to pee a lot more which is the problem at hand

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Terrible dilema for me

Dr. David :

no, you want drink more.

Dr. David :

more peeing is ok.

Dr. David :

and is healthier for your kidneys and bladder.

Dr. David :

you need to be peeing and urinating regularly

Dr. David :

not drinking water is not a good idea.

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

I do drink water

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

But when I increase the amount I drink it makes my problem worse

Dr. David :

drinking more water will make you urinate more frequently.

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Yes I understand

Dr. David :

talk to your doctor about medications which could help decrease bladder spasms.

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

I drink the same amount of fluid which I always have a balanced amount and eat a balanced diet

JACUSTOMER-lu31n00p- :

Yet my urination is more frequent and irritable

Dr. David :

that could be from overactive bladder muscles.

Dr. David :

why did you rate poor service?
