Hello

I am Doctor Thomas, double board certified US doctor in internal medicine and integrative medicine. I will start by asking you a question or by giving you an answer based on your information provided so far. I will be here to follow up with any further questions or concerns you might have.

Call the doctors and see if the tests revealed anything.
Blood usually means a more severe infection or parasites.
If this is not the case, it was probably from hemorrhoids. Especially if you are getting better.

The best all around over the counter drug for this is peptobismal.

It will turn your stool black.

Talk to your doctors about taking this, and about what showed up on your testing, if anything.

I will be ok won't i ? I only went to the doctors yesterday.

I'm i doing right with my diet ?
Expert:  DrRussMD replied 2 years ago.
Cooked apples can help with diarrhea.
Eat broths, cooked vegetarian, avoid wheat.

If there is nothing on lab testing you should be fine.

I think the pepto will help.

My doctor said if the stool sample dose come back with something that they don't give antibiotics for it .
Expert:  DrRussMD replied 2 years ago.
Not exactly true.
If a parasite, you would get a drug specific to that.
If c difficile, you would get flagyl.

Most other infections you would not get a drug.

I go on holiday next week and my doctors won't get the results back until next week . So don't know what to do. My poop was smelly dose that mean anything ?
Expert:  DrRussMD replied 2 years ago.
No it does not.

You can tell them you are starting pepto bismal.
I have seen this clear up all types of diarrhea.

Right ok , how would I know if it was something seuious?
Expert:  DrRussMD replied 2 years ago.
It would be getting worse, not better.
More diarrhea, more pain, more blood.
That does not sound to be the case.

Right ok , could the doctor tell me if it was something serious by listening to my tummy ?
Expert:  DrRussMD replied 2 years ago.
Just as I have, they can make an educated guess, but the labs confirm.

I'm just scared, I know it must sound silly . My doctor think it is something I have eaten .
Expert:  DrRussMD replied 2 years ago.
Then I would not worry; that gets better.
