This is Dr. David
your odd smell could be due to a sinus infection
have you been on a course of antibitics yet?
do you have any sinus congestion or runny nose?
sometimes with diabetes you can hvae neuropathy and your olfactory nerves which control smell can not work properly and cause unusual smells.
sometimes nerve medications like neurontin or lyrica can help these damaged nerves.
I have had a runny nose for some time, not on any antibitics.
you could have allergies or a sinus infection
you might need to go on allergy medications and a course of antibitics to see if this helps clear up a sinus infection
this could help your gas like smell clear up
I would try that first
and see if that helps.
you can see your GP doctor for a course of antibitics for a possibly sinus infection.
does this make sense?
you are welcome
