Ask a Doctor and Get an Answer to Your Medical Question ASAP
Hi there. Thank you for your question. I will be helping you out with your queries
Are you on anything for your reflux?
I think that your symptoms may be related to acid reflux and you may want to try something like OTC zantac or prescription omeprazole (which is a prescription medication in the UK).
Use these medications for at least four to eight weeks.
If, however, your glands (lymph nodes) are large i.e. more than 1-2 cm in size and multiple then they should be biopsied.
Zantac is over-the-counter.
Omeprazole is also OTC in the UK
which is a stronger medication.
Its still worth a try.
Get omperazole which is OTC 40 mg once daily for four to eight weeks.I would however go back to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve and if the lymph nodes are large.
If your symptoms do not improve in a week or so then I would definitely like to refer you.
If your lymph nodes are still not responding you may require a course of antibiotic for a possible infection and for that I think that a referral should be best.
Did you have any blood tests?
Sometimes the white cell count is raised or the neutrophils are raised when there is an infeciton.
But if those were clear then you can wait a week or two and try the omeprazole and see if those help.
