This is Dr. David
it sounds like you had an episode of neuropathy of your feet.
this can be caused by pinched nerves in your spine or poor circulation into your legs.
venous williams was found to have an autoimmune disorder.
you could also have a pinched nerve in your spine causing your right wrist swelling
or that could be due to carpel tunnel syndrome as well.
What about hands and wrist, I have researched Venus and I know about Neuropathy, do you think the pills work?
amitriptyline is an old Tricyclic antidepressant which can help with neuropathy in some patients and can cause drowsiness and help with sleep in some patients as well.
that is why you take it before bed time.
it is not really used to treat depression.
What is carpel tunnel syndrome
that is when with repeated wrist strain from typing or computer work, you get swelling of the wrist and this presses on nerves which go into the hand and can cause tingling in the fingers and numbness and weakness of the fingers.
does this information help?
do you have other questions?
assuming i have CTS what wouldd you recomend @
to ice the wrist and elevate it
get your arms into a more supportive position for typing on the computer
Do I rule out autoimmune diseases?
and elevate the arms and hands as well to help decrease swelling.
yes, you can see your doctor and get blood testing to check your ESR and ANA levels to see if they are elevated
these can help see if you have an autoimmune disorder.
these can be rare.
if these are negative, you might need an MRI scan of your spine to check for pinched nerves.
good luck to you

Thanks and would all this affect my sleep patterns and how do I overcome that issue?
sleep is complicated.
many issues can affect sleep.
lack of exercise.
as we all get older, sleep is often worse.
no computers or TV in the bed room.
you have to set a set sleep time every night.
alcohol can affect sleep as well.
increasing your exercise during the day can help improve sleep.
I get exercise, don't drink too much coffee, computers may be an issue and I rarely go OTT on drink. My main issue is being uncomfortable with my sleep.
I should have said feet not sleep
you could have restless leg syndrome at night which can cause sleep problems.
amitriptyline could help
Yes how do you deal with that?
also there are other medications like sinemet and requip which can help with restless and painful feet and legs at night time.
talk to your doctor about these options which can help
I would try the amitriptyline.
but the side affects do my head in?
no, the side effects will not do your head in.
don't forget to leave positive feedback when done.
