Hello,

I am Dr Ken and I will be helping you today.

Is skin all over the body getting blue or is it limited to a particular region? Are there associated symptoms like chest pain/ increased heart rate/ feeling tired? Do you have any other diagnosed medical conditions apart from diabetes?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
Just the top half of my back and bits of the top half of my arms and no nothing else

Matt,

Blueish color to the skin indicates reduced blood flow to the area concerned. The cause can be due to varied causes like abnormality at the vessel concerned {spasm/ narrowing to to thrombus, excess smoking or exposure to cold}/ Cardiac cause/ abnormality at the hemoglobin, polycythemia/ abnormality at the lung function.

In your case I would first think of abnormality at the vessel as my first though. Other causes would have presented with blue tinge all over the body.

Next step - a physical evaluation along with few investigations like blood tests/ color doppler for upper limb vessels/ Echo-cardiogram and chest x ray would give us more answers.

Till than - have balanced diet, adequate fluid/ avoid alcohol, smoking.

Please do not worry, you will be fine.

Matt,

Please calm down. You are not going to die from this. Yrs you need to see a doctor for sure and get it evaluated further.
