Dr. K. : When a ventilator is turned off the patient can be sedated with pain medication. The ventilator is then slowed and the patient is weaned off it. Its usually not a long and drawn out process
Dr. K. : You should ask his Dr about the services of a hospice that assists with end of life care

Dr. K. : Usually very fast. Hours or less. Unfortunately sometimes patients linger for days. There is no way tompredict this
