Hi I'm Dr. Phil
Can I ask your first name?
hi Ben and Christopher
do you have allergies Christopher?
what meds does he/you take?
clearly this is related to fluid behind the ear
possibly an infection
sometimes oral anti histamines can clear this up
you can get them from the chemist
like loratadine or cetirizine
sometimes antibiotics and steroids are needed
I disagree with that
and sometimes you can't see anything on exam
his history of ear ringing and fullness tell a different story
no I meant the story you told me
history of asthma, ringing, fluid in the ear.
I would get some oral anti histamine and see if that helps
because people who have asthma or allergies often build up fluid in the ear/sinuses
yes it can last for days
Yes, it could
My next step would be to try an anti histamine and sinus rinse for 24 hours
if no better go in
say that he has severe ringing and it is not improving
and you would like to see an ENT
would you mind rating me positive before leaving?
I doubt it
he would have other symptoms
don't let the internet scare you!!!
dizziness, balance problems, hearing problems, neck pain
are you there?
that is likely related to the ear
if it doesn't get better he should have a CAT scan of the head but not now
it's only been 3 days.
lets not go looking for anything so quick
you're welcome :)
I greatly appreciate it
that I'm nearly 100% sure its not a tumor.
99.9% sure its inner ear related
and that it will get better
just give it time
please don't forget that rating! I appreciate it!
