Hi there, This is Dr Basu, Experienced Specialist. I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.
Must be very unsettling for you.
YOu likely strained the muscle fibers during the incident.
Sudden crouching can cause snapping of the muscle fibers.
Injury to the blood vessels is unlikely as it will cause lot of bruises and swelling immediately.
If you do not have these symptoms bruising and lot of swelling then you do not need to worry.
However, you still need to rest your thigh well for next few days.
YOu use a thigh support or a crepe bandage to support the thigh.
YOu should continue with icing 10 to 15 minutes at a time 4 to 5 times day.
YOu can take Ibuprofen 400 to 600 mg with food every 6 hours for pain control.
The symptoms will gradually improve.
YOu can see your GP in regular hours, if you do not notice any other symptoms.
It was my pleasure to help you today. The spasm is due to the sudden stretching of the muscle.
This is a normal reaction to the sudden demand on the muscle to work.
do you feel any weakness or numbness?
YOu also likely hurt the nerve passing through your leg to the foot.
This will cause numbness and radiating pain also
The treatment is still adequate rest, and analgesics along with icing.
However, you can go to the local hospital for further evaluation.
They may also give you crutches to help you not to use the leg for a day at least.
Yes they may --but still so far it is not urgent in my opinion.
little bit of numbness is expected after this type of injury.
that should be appropriate.
Please get some ibuprofen.
